Need an advanced programmer, PHP expert for one-time tutoring (Boulder)

I need an advanced programmer who is knowledgeable about PHP and my SQL to help me set something up (described below) and understand how to use it.

I have an e-newsletter, and I am using a program called Maxbulk Mailer to manage it, as well as manage recipient lists and bulk mailing.

There is a feature that allows the admin user to set up subscribe/unsubscribe functionality, creating and managing recipient lists using a remote hosting environment. It uses PHP and mySQL stuff that I do not understand. I know basic html and web design, but databases and PHP are beyond me. The tutorials and instructions from the vendor are completely vague and totally useless. I had been getting support through the provider of this product, but he was absolutely horrible and could not help me understand neither the concepts nor the details. Eventually he just said "I'm done with you."

Essentially it involves modifying code and URLs that they provide, which is easy to understand if you are a programmer. There are a number of steps and one tiny error throws the whole thing off, troubleshooting is like pulling teeth and is driving me crazy. I am totally fed up and have spent way too many hours on what should be relatively straightforward.

I would like to have someone come over, or meet in a cafe for a couple-3 hours who is an expert at this stuff to help me set it up. I offer $40/hr.

Experienced Magento Developer (Boulder)

Looking for an experienced, freelance/contract Magento developer to help migrate from an existing, crappy, proprietary ecommerce system.

The requirements of the Magento system would be:
1. Can communicate with company's existing ERP ideally bi-directionally, but at least will pull product data from it
2. Can run multiple storefronts - OR at least have multiple installs of magento with each site pulling data from the existing ERP.
3. Multiple price breaks for each product (ie each, 1-99, 100-500,)
4. Multiple MATERIALS for each product (aluminum, decal, etc)
5. Multiple sizes for each product
6. Custom pricing for specific customers for specific subset of products
7. Nice to Have - custom login/homepage for those specific customers
8. Shipping module, ideally based on weights

There are other nice to haves as well.

Ideally, I'm looking for a developer that can do all the Magento development and could interface with a team on the data calls if he/she can't do it himself. The ideal person will have done a MINIMUM of 2-3 previous Magento projects with some customization. Furthermore, the ideal person will know how to project manage, knows how to execute against a timeline, can work with multiple parties (internal project manager, internal and difficult IT guy, external ERP reps, existing web provider).

Hiring company is an OEM of screen printed decals, signage, beverage coolers, items for the property management industry. They've been burned by bad ecommerce decisions in the past, and are looking to get onto a stable, easy to manage platform like Magento. Cost will be an issue (when is it not) so looking to do bare minimum now and roll out other functionality later. While this gig is operating against a timeline, there is some flexibility for a fantastic developer who is underemployed or part-time somewhere else (it doesn't need to be full time, but should be at least half time until site is launched and debugged). After that, there will be the opportunity for ongoing maintenance, additional functionality, etc.

Looking for a bid/quote, would be willing to consider an hourly route depending on price.

Email your resume and portfolio as well.

LEAD DEVELOPER FOR SaaS COMPANY - PHP / MYSQL (Boulder)

Dear Rockstar LAMP Developer,

Zen Ventures is a successful and fast-growing Web-based software company (SaaS) headquartered in Boulder, Colorado.

We provide template-based Websites to thousands of clients across the United States (examples: www.bodyworksites.com and www.cosmowebsites.com).

And we absolutely love what we do

We are looking for a highly skilled LAMP programmer (emphasis on PHP and MySQL) to take over as the Lead Developer for our company.

There is only one position available, so we are being very picky about who gets it. It’s simply not enough for you to be highly skilled at programming. We want someone who takes genuine pride in the elegance and efficiency of their code. And you must have the professional references to prove it.

Requirements (In Order of Importance):
• Deep experience (5+ years minimum) building Web applications in PHP/MySQL (with references we can call to verify this)
• Strong working knowledge of Model View Controllers (MVC)
• Solid experience with Linux/Apache Web server administration
• Proficiency in CSS and HTML
• Proficiency in using Subversion or a similar repository (we will train you in GIT)
• Working knowledge of Javascript libraries (JQuery or similar)
• Ability to enjoy life

One significant benefit of this job is that it’s a telecommuting position. So you will be able to work from the comfort of your own home.

In addition, you’ll receive one full month of one-on-one training from our current Lead Developer. This training period will be used to familiarize you with our code base and answer any questions you’ve got.

The salary for this position is $70,000 per year. And as our company continues to grow and prosper, so will your salary.

We are hiring for a start date of 1/4/2010.

This is a very exciting time for our business. We’re finalizing new major partnerships that are projected to double our sales within 3 months. And we’re proud of the culture in our company. Every single person here is highly talented, hard-working, and enjoys their lives (both inside and outside the office).

To apply, please send your resume – including the names and phone numbers of your supervisors for the past 5 years (we always call references) – to the email address listed on this post.

Thanks, and good luck.
