1800’s Antique Solid Cherry Corner Cupboard. Hand-crafted in America of cherry and mixed woods. Rare…have never seen a cupboard exactly like this since acquiring it 35 years ago.
The beautiful cabinet features two glazed doors above an open pie shelf, and two solid wood doors on the bottom. All interiors are painted, and have aged to a light buttery yellow shade. The two upper glass panel doors are each divided into 6 panes. Glass is wavy. Three upper interior shelves feature 12 cup hooks (old, but not thought to be original to the piece) and the cabinet bottom has two additional shelves. The bottom solid wood doors have thick chamfered insets. Hand-planed. Back panels have been replaced at some distant time. The cupboard measures 87" high, 45" wide, and 17.5" deep. Beautiful patina, wonderful working condition, and absolutely nothing needs to be done except provide the proper setting to show it off!
Provenance: This cupboard was purchased in 1989 from an antique dealer in Charleston, West Virginia, who stated it came from an area known as "Salt Lick" near Barboursville, Cabell County, West Virginia, and was 110 years old at the time of purchase. I have recently been advised however, it may be much older. $2475 Cash
