Set of 4 Matching Antique Universal Metal Swivel Caster Wheels. Although one caster is bent, all are functional and rotate 360 degrees on ball bearings. Made in the USA. "Universal" marking can be identified on two caster sides. Even though casters were in use since an 1876 patent by David A. Fisher, an improved caster incorporating ball bearings started being used in the early 1900s. The ball bearings aided in more fluid rotation, reduced friction and longer caster life. These casters date approximately to that time period and were manufactured by the Universal Caster and Foundry Works, a division of The Barrick Co., Newark, NJ.
Each caster measures 1 7/8"high. Caster mounting bracket measures 2" long and 1 1/2" wide. Wheel measures 1 1/4" diameter and 1/2" wide. New 16 mounting wood screws (3/4” slotted flat head; 4 per caster bracket) are provided. $44 Cash
