"This ice cream scoop was made in Decatur, IL in the early 1950's by Gordon Lloyd and his father. The scoops were patented (#2239046) under the name of the Lloyd Disher Company and were called DISHERS, a name given them by Gordon's late wife. The Lloyd family owned and operated the Benson Creamery located on West Cerro Gordo Street in Decatur for many years. These ice cream scoops were originally made of Stainless Steel but were later replaced with a plastic version due to the cost of the materials involved." The Lloyd Disher Company was dissolved in 2005.
