Food Lab recreational cooking school is looking for a Head Chef Instructor/ Assistant Kitchen Manager. The primary role of the Assistant Kitchen Manager is supporting the running the day-to-day operations at Food Lab as well as supporting and helping to drive the company forward while staying on brand and keeping the best interest of Food Lab and all employees first.
We are looking for a forward thinking and creative individual that can teach classes, has a broad knowledge of food, ingredients and is wanting to help the company grow. There is room for expansion within the company.
Candidate must have full time availability.
Pay DOE and competitive with the hospitality industry norm.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach cooking classes
Leading the team of chef instructors and assistants in a positive style
Inventory and ordering, food and equipment
Scheduling appropriately for the events on the schedule
Menu creation and costing
Support and work with rest of management team to help stay current and on brand
Store food products in compliance with safety practices (e.g. in refrigerators)
Keep weekly and monthly cost reports
Hiring and training staff
Weekly meetings with management team
Solid computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
Minimum 1 year of experience in a supervisory position for busy restaurant
Ability to manage multiple tasks at a time while maintaining attention to detail
Must be able to operate effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly.
The ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Expansive food knowledge
Great with people
Familiarity with teaching cooking classes
Knowledge of kitchen sanitation and safety regulations
Excellent organizational skills
Conflict management abilities
Ability to manage a team in a fast-paced work environment
RTD bus pass
