Niche Market Associate
Schedule: 1:45–6:30 p.m., five days per week
Market closes at 6:00 p.m.; this position includes closing duties
Starting wage: $20 per hour
Meals on Wheels of Boulder is looking for a dependable, self-directed person to work as an afternoon Associate in the Niche Market.
This position is primarily a retail market position. The Associate will help customers, keep the Market clean and organized, restock items, support the daily flow of the store, and complete closing duties at the end of the day. As needed, this person may also help supplement Grab & Go items by packaging, labeling, stocking, or filling in small gaps so the Market stays fresh and appealing.
Occasionally, this position may also help fill in for team members who are on vacation or otherwise away, so some flexibility with scheduling is helpful.
This is a Market Associate role for someone who is comfortable with retail, greeting guests, food prep, less busy times, and mission-driven work.
Primary Responsibilities
• Assist customers in the Niche Market
• Work cooperatively with volunteers who help support the Market
• Keep the Market clean, organized, stocked, and welcoming
• Restock shelves, coolers, and displays as needed
• Check dates and help rotate food items properly
• Maintain an attractive and orderly retail space
• Help supplement Grab & Go items when needed
• Package, label, or stock food items as directed
• Notice what is running low and communicate needs to the manager
• Use slower times productively without needing direction
• Complete closing duties for the Market
• Assure the store is clean, organized, and properly closed at the end of the day, in preparation for the next day
• Occasionally help fill in for team members who are on vacation or away, when available
The Right Person for This Job

• Comfortable working independently during times that are less busy
• Self-directed and able to see what needs to be done
• Comfortable with retail, food prep, stocking, light cleaning, and customer service
• Able to work without needing interaction or supervision
• Calm, steady, and responsible
• Detail-oriented about cleanliness, presentation, food dates, and closing procedures
• Willing to help with Grab & Go support when needed, without being responsible for leading the program
• Somewhat flexible and willing to help cover occasional schedule gaps when possible
• Respectful of the mission of Meals on Wheels of Boulder
• Knowledge of food safety a plus
This position is an important part of the Niche Market team. The right person will understand that even when the store is less busy, the work still matters. We need someone who takes pride in keeping the Market stocked, clean, welcoming, and ready for the next day.
