Seasonal Cook/Dishwashers Needed (Cal-Wood Education Center)

Cal-Wood Education Center (Jamestown, CO) is seeking individuals to work beginning this May. Ideal candidate has experience cooking for large groups in catering, school meal service or community living meal preparation.

Must be available weekday evenings from approximately 3pm-9pm and on Saturdays (hours vary). Shifts will run on a 2-week cycle: 6 days on followed by a week with 2-3 days on throughout summer. Position begins May 24th and runs till Aug 15th. Rate of pay is $15 per hour, hours vary from 16-35 per week, depending on the cycle.

This position will work under the direction of the Kitchen Manager, but candidate should be able to work independently and can prioritize tasks by level of urgency. Daily tasks include “from-scratch” cooking of weekday dinners and multiple meals on Saturdays. Menus/recipes will be determined by the Kitchen Manager.

Essential job functions include: taking pride in the ability to provide flavorful meals with an eye for pleasing food presentation, foresight to plan ahead and prep future meals, ability to change gears quickly in a fast-paced environment while keeping calm, ability to stand on feet for long periods of time, ability to express needs to kitchen helper/dishwasher about the planned meal and dining room set-up, basic knowledge of food rotation principles, creative use of leftover foods to eliminate food waste and adherence to cleanliness standards. Candidate should be adept at customer service skills and demonstrate a friendly attitude as they interact with Cal-Wood staff and various large groups ranging from school children to adults who attend programming at Cal-Wood. Ability to lift 40 pounds, and pass background check/fingerprinting is essential.
