Susan was born on May 19, 2026, to our award-winning mom and dad, who are both pedigreed TSW Texel guinea pigs. Both parents have won best of breed at previous cavy shows. Susan is old enough to join a new home. She is healthy and beautiful. Her red is deep and gorgeous, and her white is a bright, clean white. Red and White is a showable pattern at a cavy show, and she is well-marked: proportional, almost exactly 50/50 red and white with clean edges. Her curls are great, and both her parents have gorgeous ringlets.
If you are interested in Susan as a pet (with no plans to show), terrific! Guinea pigs make wonderful pets. The ringlets require frequent review but NOT extra regular grooming. Just like for humans with very curly hair, you don't want to brush them -- that will cause a frizzy mess. Just give them a bath from time to time, as you would for any breed of guinea pig. You can gently comb the curls. If the fur gets knots, cut them out. If you are keeping texels as pets, it's fine (and quite fun!) to give them a haircut a few times per year to keep their fur trouble-free. Happy to advise on showing texels too, and/or the benefits of joining a 4-H club.
Guinea pigs are herd animals and like to have company. If you don't already have a friendly female guinea pig for Susan to join, we are willing to rehome her with her mom, Olivia. The total fee for both would be $150. (Olivia is only available as a companion to Susan, not solo.) Olivia is the black, red, and white cavy in the later photos.
Fun fact: you can spin their fur like sheep's wool. It's coarse, but great for making baskets or carpets. The fiber's color saturation is very good.
We know it might take time to find Susan the right new home, and we are not in a rush.
