Antique Circa 1910-1915 Mirroscope Opaque Projector –Industrial Steampunk Decor– For Restoration or Parts
This is a fantastic piece of early 20th-century technology with a highly desirable "steampunk" look.
Item: Antique "Mirroscope" Opaque Projector (also called an Episcope)
Manufacturer: The Buckeye Stereopticon Co., Cleveland, Ohio.
Estimated Date: Circa 1910–1915 (The "Mirroscope" trademark was registered around 1910).
Function: Unlike film projectors, this device was originally designed to project postcards, photos, and solid objects onto a wall using a dual-bulb reflection system.
Condition & Details: Aesthetic: Authentic heavy patina and rust. This piece has a fantastic industrial / steampunk look that makes it perfect for shelf decor or a prop. Heavily weathered with significant surface rust. Lens moves but is stiff. NOTE: One of the two top heat-vent chimney's is missing! We are still looking for it, and if found after sale, we will get it to you at no additional charge (Murphy Lives).
Internals: The rear door opens to reveal the original dual-socket setup and reflective interior.
Components: Complete metal housing, originally two top heat-vent chimneys (one is currently missing), rear loading gate for postcards, and front sliding lens assembly. NOTE: One of the two top heat-vent chimney's is missing! We are still looking for it, and if found after sale, we will get it to you at no additional charge (Murphy Lives).
Lens: Original sliding barrel lens is intact (glass appears dusty/dirty due to age).
Wiring: Still has the original antique cloth-twisted power cord. Safety Note: Due to the age of the wiring (100+ years old), this is sold as a display piece only. It should not be plugged in unless rewired by a professional.
Dimensions: Approx. 11" x 12" x 12" (including lens and chimneys).
