condition: good
make / manufacturer: Goyo Silveira
These were made and signed by Gregorio "Goyo" Silveira from Mata Ortiz, Mexico. He was born in 1978, and is part of a well known family and community of pottery craftspersons.
Each measures approx. 12" wide x 12" high. Both are in working order and light as expected. Both have wrought iron metal bases.
It appears that these were made as pottery jars, but have been converted to lamps. Both have holes drilled in the bottom for lamp cords. The light fixtures were glued to the tops of the jars, but one has come loose. Both of these could be used as decorative jars again.
The shades have a sand type finish. Once was torn at the top where it meets the round metal frame, and reglued. One was signed "1993 by Luke ...." "Castle Creek Collection.
