This candidate should be hard working, enjoy being outside in all weather, should be physically fit and able to lift at least 50 pounds and able to work independently. This person will be assisting our livestock manager, garden educator and veggie production farm field crew in the following tasks, but not limited to:
• Weeding, prepping, transplanting and seeding in veggie beds
• Winterizing beds in fall
• Irrigation of crops
• Assisting in moving pasture lambs and fencing in rotational grazing practices
• Occasional care of feeding animals each morning-includes sheep, horses, chickens, goats, llamas/alpaca and donkey.
• Able to construct or build shelves, shelters, roofs etc. and repair fencing.
• Must feel comfortable around horses.
• Mucking horse and animal stalls.
• Cleaning outdoor tables, bathrooms, buildings and play equipment around the farm.
• Blowing walkways each morning.
• Basic care for animals, helping vet, animal vaccinations, hoove trimming, moving sheep around fields and taking animals to auction as needed.
• Machine Repair
• Continually monitor farm and animals for issues, and be pro-active when you see something needs to happen.
• Assist and prepare with bigger seasonal farm projects, such as preparing garden beds, planting, harvesting, weeding, raking, preparing for music events, shoveling snow, running bobcat or tractor, mucking stalls, picking up animal waste, building fences, wasps and pest eradication.
• Assisting with mowing and landscaping
• Watering trees
• Completing construction projects as needed
Relevant Experience/Qualifications:
-Farm/farming
-Horse and Sheep experience
-Construction
-Gardening/landscaping
-Animal care
-Ability to drive Bobcat/Tractor or other heavy machinery
-Be able to lift 50 pounds.
-Must go for a Criminal background check and have a clean record - -Must have reliable transportation.
-Must like children and be a friendly to guests, staff, parents and children.
