Sunflower Farm Acres, is the new production farm, stemming from Sunflower Farm’s educational demonstration farm. Sunflower Farm has been educating children and families about farming, animals, gardening and nature for over 20 years, and is now growing food for the community through CSA shares, farmer’s markets, wholesale vegetable sales, on-site veggie sales and flower production for weekly flower shares and wholesaling.
We are currently seeking a Full-Time, experienced Flower Manager, who is extremely hard working, can work independently, loves working outside and can stay committed to the entire growing season! This is a full-time position through October, 2026.
Flower Manager Experience and Responsibilities:
• This person, should have at least 2-3 seasons of previous flower farming experience in growing, arranging and selling cut flower crops, teaching flower workshops, doing dried flower arrangements and wreaths.
• Primary field tasks include bed preparation, weeding, watering, transplanting, seeding, harvesting, spraying, mulching, pruning drying, irrigating and record-keeping.
• Key experience will be in arranging flowers for the farm stand and the weekly 15 week Flower Share distribution and preparing 20-30 bouquets or cut stems for wholesale orders each week.
• Have experience harvesting and saving flowers for drying.
• This person will need to work very independently and efficiently.
• Create and lead 4-6 Flower Workshops throughout the season on topics such as bouquet making, wreath making and Flower Happy Hours.
• Should understand and anticipate the crop and harvest schedule, cultivate personal knowledge of flower crops, soil science, and organic, sustainable farming techniques.
• Needs to actively communicate problems and seek solutions.
• Great communication skills are required.
• Required to train and supervise field assistants and volunteers.
• Other tasks will include cleaning buckets, preserving dried flowers and organizing flower station.
Successful candidates love working outside in all weather conditions, must be physically fit to lift at least 50 pounds and be able and willing to walk, kneel, bend, stoop, lift and stand all day in the heat, snow or rain. This position is 35-40 hours per week through the end of October.
Benefits: Added perk to your job is free flowers and a regular veggie CSA share, beginning the week of June 1st through October. Sick and safe pay, is offered as it is accrued every 30 hours worked. Included is also free access for you and 2 other people for any Farmfest Music evening.
