Built by Burrowes Instruments in Colorado under the label “Banned Instruments,” this unique guitar features a top made from weathered galvanized corrugated steel roofing. The back and sides are made from long-aged oak from a heavy duty pallet. Original rusty nail holes are carefully preserved with a combination of CA glue and clear epoxy.
The mahogany neck, ebony fretboard, and related parts and materials are all new top-grade material to ensure stability and playability. Nickel-silver frets are semi-hemi finished on the ends. The fretboard inlay with barb-wire position markers is a custom design, all mother of pearl . The Paua abalone recycle symbol and the mother of pearl “B” logo are from the same sustainable source.
The top bracing is similar to a Gibson L-5 CES. Two Seymour Duncan Vintage Blues pickups are in custom frames, with tone and volume controls and selector switch. The bullet holes are real, the bird poop is simulated. This guitar is a one-of-a-kind work of art, there isn’t another like it in the world, and likely never will be.
