TEENS, Inc. is a Nederland, Colorado based non-profit organization with the mission to support, educate and empower youth and their families to make healthy choices and thrive. The Teen Center is a NO-COST drop-in center for teens (first day of 6th grade through 20 years old). The Teen Center (TC) is open to any teenager who wants to come in and hang out. Teen Center programming aims to incorporate natural mentoring, recreation, employment, leadership/character building, and crime, violence, and substance abuse prevention.
We have a gymnasium equipped with a foam pit, a basketball hoop, and a bouldering wall. We also have computers with internet access and a fully equipped kitchen that is regularly restocked with food. The Teen Center provides a safe place for teens for those who do not participate in traditional after school activities.
The Teen Center Program Manager position will be the central point person for all programmatic logistics. This position will oversee and manage youth employees (peer supervisors AKA peer supes), plan and carry out teen center events 3 days a week (with youth input and help), do outreach at the high school called Chinook, along with other administrative components of the job.
Teen Center Duties:
PEER SUPES: Hire, manage, hold accountable & foster relationships with Peer Supes, offering feedback as necessary. Plan and carry out educational activities related to professionalism and life skills. Track curriculum carried out and progress of Peer Supes in alignment with evaluation needs. Submit pay on a bi-weekly basis.
TEEN CENTER ACTIVITIES: With the help of Peer Supes, plan and carry out activities at the TC to recruit new youth and offer pro-social activities. During this time ensure that positive adult relationships are being formed, safety is upheld and youth voices are included in the process. Do feedback after each event and document any planning that would be helpful for the future.
YOUTH TRACKING/EVALUATION: Work with the Out of School Director to ensure that youth tracking and evaluations are being performed in alignment with greater organizational evaluation needs.
LAW ENFORCEMENT: Plan and carry out events and opportunities for local law enforcement to connect with youth in the community.
HOLIDAY EVENTS: Plan and carry out the following holiday events and dances:
Howl-O-Ween Ned/Haunted House (Saturday)
Valentines Day Dance
Spring egg hunt (Saturday)
Spring/end of the year dance
OTHER TEEN CENTER EVENTS: Plan and carry out the following events:
Up to 3 planned activities per week
Fall Ice Cream Social for new incoming 6th graders
Carnival event: raffles, games, popcorn and cotton candy.
20-25 hours/week with potential to become full time
$16-$18/hour depending on experience.
