About us:
We are in our late thirties and early forties, and a mix of omnivores and vegetarians. Currently there are 3 people of various genders, all working professionals who enjoy a clean and harmonious space, a friendly and peaceful atmosphere with regular gatherings such as dinner parties and acoustic musical jams. We love cooking and eating together, talking, walking with or without dogs, being playful, working on household improvement projects, and engaging in personal growth. We are happy to meet your friends and beloveds, too!
Some of us have some Jewish background, and we have been cultivating a joyful Shabbat experience on Friday nights, which is mostly centered around a big family style dinner together, lighting candles and making music and staying up late hanging out; we have also created a technology and work-free zone in the common spaces for rest and connection on Friday nights and Saturdays. We are seeking someone who will respect and support our house agreements, including making space for individual spiritual practices - though we all differ in how much/if we have regular practices. You do not have to be Jewish or have knowledge or background with Jewish practice to live here.
We hold a weekly house meeting and dinner (currently on Tuesday, but we can find a day that works for us all) which you will be expected to attend, and frequently another family style dinner on Friday nights that is optional. We believe in open-hearted, direct communication and do our best to practice this with each other. We are seeking someone who is willing to receive feedback and be in dialogue about any conflicts that arise.
About you:
You are someone who is interested in building chosen family and community. You are generous, open-hearted, good-humored, self-aware, and self-responsible. Introverts and people who need space and quiet are welcome to apply. It can sound overwhelming on paper, but you will have plenty of time for your own schedule! We'd like someone who is interested in being social and does not spend all of their time at home closed in their room, but we also all take plenty of time to ourselves and ebb and flow in sociability. We are currently a mix of introverts and extroverts. Folks from all backgrounds are welcome to apply.
