We have a vintage Life-Like "High Voltage Speedway" HO Scale Slot car set for sale.
It is the glow-in-the-dark version and has pretty much all the pieces, but the main missing piece is a second car.
The power supply and the controllers are in pretty good shape for a vintage set, so I am happy with those.
With a set this old, it has some issues, which I will do my best to outline below :
1. It only has one car. The car we have is in overall decent shape, but the small bracket that holds the pin that protrudes down from the chassis into the slot has broken off. I have glued it back on and it works, but that is a weak point that may fail again if the car it handled roughly.
2. We have 100% of the track pieces that make up the picture on the box, but a couple of the connectors have suffered some breakage. One of the track joints had to be wired together, which functions just fine, but a few others need to be carefully aligned when assembling the track to maintain the connection. Wiring those together would also work and it was fairly easy. I just drilled some tiny holes on the butt-end of the tracks and threaded a thin wire through it. Those can be removed easily if you decide to replace any of the track segments where the connectors are not 100%
3. The glow in the dark railings that attach to the curved segments have some fragile connectors that keep them attached to the curve all the way around. Some of the segments have broken connectors at various spots, but they still work OK and you could do some DIY workarounds to make them 100% if you have the time.
4. There are one or two of the smaller trestle segments missing, but I made replacements.
5. The box is in decent shape and I have most of the original directions, but one page had a piece torn off.
We had to buy one missing track segment from ebay and there are many components available to fill in any missing items from this set, including additional slot cars, etc.
All-in-all, it is a functioning set with one car, but I wouldn't recommend any vintage toy like this to anyone without a bit of mechanical skill who can maintain and repair it, just as I would not recommend radio controlled toys, hobby train sets or the like to someone who hates to work on stuff in general. My son and I got this used and got it going, but he has too many other interests that keep him busy, so he has decided to sell it to someone who will appreciate it.
Thanks for looking and feel free to ask any further questions.
