Each lantern uses 3-AA batteries, which are included.
These are great little lanterns! They put out an ultra-bright 360° degree light, and the brightness is adjustable by reducing the height of lantern. Waterproof and extremely durable, yet lightweight, with collapsible design. When collapsed, they are 4.8” tall x 3.4” wide, and when fully extended they are 7.1” tall, plus a 2.8” long carrying/hanging handle that can be used or not.
Super handy at home for power outages!!
